I’m curious about how students gathered notes, organized them, cited sources. Was this all in an open-field journal? In combination with software?
For this unit we used Edmodo as a platform for dissemination of scaffolds used for collection of notes and uploading these scaffolds for marking as well as collaborative work for discussion etc. For collaborative composition of work the students used Google Docs.
Later in the year – for the second unit in the ongoing study – our school had finally established Microsoft 365 as our school platform so I set up a Class Notebook and it was all self contained in there with pages as scaffolds and a section for collaborative notetaking and production of a magazine article. This second unit was totally online in that space and worked well.
